EN50131 and SR40

Alarm installers must be compliant with 2 standards, EN50131 and SR40. EN50131 addresses the physical installation of alarm systems and the associated documentation (risk assessment, system design proposal, as fitted document etc).

SR40 is mainly concerned with the management of the company and addresses areas such as:

• Tax and insurance compliance
• Premises suitability
• Company information
• Health and safety
• Recruitment procedures
• Employee screening
• Training system

For new companies entering the industry, our typical approach is to spend 1 day with the company, explaining in detail the requirements of EN50131 and SR40 and developing the documentation needed for compliance. The client then operates their system for a period of time, at which point we may follow up with a second visit to ensure that the client has successively implemented their system.
